I’m so excited to announce that several of our SpAN contributors (including myself) are going to be on a panel at Can-Con 2017 (the Conference on Canadian Content in Speculative Arts and Literature). The topic? Sex!

Spooning with Spoonies: Disability and Sexuality—Disability is often represented as the antithesis of sexuality and disabled people are often portrayed in our literature only as friends. But disabled bodies are sexual bodies and bodies that have to adapt and be fluid in bed. This panel will explore the representation of disabled sexuality and give a sense of context to disabled sexual encounters.

Featuring: ‘Nathan Burgoine, Caro Frechette, Cait Gordon, Talia Johnson, Jamieson Wolf . . . and Derek Newman-Stille as the incomparable moderator!

When? Saturday October 14, 2017 at 9:00 p.m.

Where? The Sheraton Ottawa, Salon E

The schedule for Can-Con 2017 will be available soon. Please check the Can-Con website for details.

We hope to see you there!
